Tribute to the workshop of Agnolo Bronzino

The "never seen before" from the repositories of the Corsi Collection

Museo Stefano Bardini 24 September 2010 - 23 January 2011
Opening hours: Sat/Sun/Mon 11.00 am-17.00 pm

On the occasion of the exhibition “Bronzino. Painter and poet at the Medici court” which opened on 24 September 2010 at Palazzo Strozzi, both habitués and new visitors to the Stefano Bardini Museum will have the chance to admire four paintings “never seen before” and housed to date in the extensive civic repositories. The works have been selected from among those produced in Bronzino’s workshop, favouring the sixteenth-century female portrait. We will be able to admire in their roles as wives and daughters Eleonora da Toledo, Zaffira Maria Falconcini and Lucrezia di Niccolò da Sinibaldo Gaddi, as well as the quintessence of motherhood in a Virgin and Child with Saint John.Particularly significant is the critical retrieval of the painter Giovanni Maria Butteri (1535-1607), a figure to date in the shade, who perfectly assimilated the lesson of the master and that of another great artist of the time, Santi di Tito.
